Eastside Parents Ministry

Yap Ching Keong (Ye Zhen Qiang) or fondly known as ZQ, was baptized in the early years of the Singapore church in 1989 as a teenager. His passion to serve God full time in the ministry started from the day he became a Christian. As a polytechnic student, ZQ served part-time in the ministry. Two years later in 1994, he went full time. Before getting married, ZQ served for several years in various ministries; ranging from teens and campus through to singles, the Chinese Ministry and even the parents ministry.

Grace, a Malaysian, was baptized in 1991. She graduated from the University of Malaya with a BArts honours in Media Studies. After her attachment with TV3 in broadcast journalism, she joined the full time ministry in 1997 with the church in Kuala Lumpur.

Six months later, she was sent to lead the church in Johor Bahru.

ZQ and Grace met while working together as leaders of the Johor Bahru church in 1999. They got married two years later in Singapore and were given the opportunity to be based in Kuala Lumpur (KL) from 2003 to 2006. Grace’s father had health issues that required them to frequent her hometown of Taiping, five hours from KL. These frequent trips inspired them to have mission bible talks in small towns. Together with the Malaysian staff, mission bible talks were started in Ipoh, Taiping, Seremban, Kuching and Kuantan.

Being a Singaporean, ZQ came back to Singapore with Grace in 2006. They now lead the Eastside Parents Ministry and oversee the church in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. They received their certification as Family Life Educators from Family Resource Training Centre and Academy of Human Development, Singapore, and have since conducted various talks at schools. Both ZQ and Grace share a passion for music and oversee the church's music ministry. Married in 2001, ZQ and Grace are now parents of two children.
