Children have different learning styles – the way they take in and process information. Some children focus on facts. Some respond strongly to visual forms of information, like pictures. Some get more from verbal forms--written and spoken word. Some prefer to learn actively and interactively. And some learn more individually.

Businesses know how important it is to use just the right words or they might lose their customer. It has become a business science. Yet many of us parents do not even give the slightest thought about how we speak to our children. If our children were our clients, we might just see our businesses wind down. Words matter.

"You never listen to me" is a complaint heard as often from children as parents. Good communication helps children and parents to develop confidence, feelings of self-worth, and good relationships with others. Bad communication or communication with unhealthy anger creates walls and rebelliousness from the child.
